Galvanize – “the coating of a metal, usually iron or steel, with zinc to prevent corrosion.”
Galvanize – “to stimulate somebody or something into activity.”
Galvanize AV explores concurrent physical control of both audio and visual parameters. It is a sound toy designed to be used as an audiovisual instrument. The system comprises of 8 user selectable objects. Each object simultaneously generates both animated graphical and sonic content with various trans domain mappings implemented. The system incorporates two methods for capturing the user’s physical gestures. The primary control method utilises two acrylic performance wands. These are brightly coloured to successfully facilitate colour tracking techniques. Every allocated and user modifiable audiovisual parameter can be controlled solely by the user’s physical movements in space, without the need for direct contact with traditional computer based control interfaces.
